Gagasi 99.5 FM DJ Felix Hlophe became a social media hit with his videos advising workers to skip work and go drinking.

But this time the joke is on him!

Hlophe was suspended from work on Monday for allegedly arriving late for his Uprising breakfast show.

Sources said it’s not the first time the popular DJ who is also a comedian has arrived late at work.

“The management has tried to warn him but he carries on doing the same thing,” a source told Scrolla.Africa.

“Maybe he thinks he’s irreplaceable because his show commands a huge following and generates revenue.”

Gagasi spokesperson Khulekani Shandu confirmed Hlophe has been suspended for a month.

“Unfortunately the station can’t divulge the reasons for his suspension,” said Shandu.

Gagasi 99.5FM listeners took to twitter to comment about Hlophe’s suspension.

Buhle Zuma wrote: “Thank you for leading by example. You live up to your promise that we must skip work and come back later.”

Sne Khumalo also took a jab at Hlophe. “Is this the same guy who was asking us on Friday that we must skip work?”

Meanwhile, Ukhozi FM have followed suit by suspending Vuka Breakfast co-host Sipho “DJ Sgqemeza” Mbatha.

Listeners of the SABC station woke up to the voice of Siya Mhlongo and co-host Mroza Buthelezi. It is not clear why Mbatha has been yanked off the air.
