A man in China has been sent to prison for scaring 1,100 chickens to death in an angry feud with his neighbour.
A man identified only by his surname, Gu, used a flashlight to terrify his neighbour Zhong’s chickens, causing their deaths, according to China Daily.
Their feud began in April 2022 when Zhong cut down some of Gu’s trees without asking permission.
It escalated when Gu carried out his revenge: he snuck onto Zhong’s chicken farm and scared his chickens – not once, but twice!
The first time he caused a panic amongst the chickens and 500 of them crushed each other.
The police caught Gu and ordered him to repay Zhong for the damage, an amount close to R8,000.
The money was clearly not an issue for Gu as he returned for a second time, killing a further 640 chickens.
When police arrested Gu this time, they estimated he had caused around R40,000 in damages.
A court in Hengyang County, in central China’s Hunan province, ruled on Tuesday that Gu had intentionally caused Zhong property loss.
Gu was sentenced to six months in prison and one year of probation to reflect on his actions.
Looks like Gu’s attempt to become a real-life “Chicken Run” villain landed him in jail.
