Footballer safe after trying to take own life

According to reports from France, Alexis Beka Beka was the individual seen threatening to jump off the Magnan Bridge in Nice.

Local news source Nice Matin detailed the incident, stating that the footballer had parked on the hard shoulder of the A8 motorway and appeared intent on jumping from the Magnan Bridge, which has a height of about 100 meters.

It is believed that personal issues, including a recent breakup with his partner, might have added to his emotional distress.

Quick action was taken to ensure the safety of the young player. Firefighters, armed services, and the police arrived promptly at the scene. The officers tried to engage with Beka Beka, urging him to step away from the perilous edge.

Recognising the seriousness of the situation, OGC Nice sent a psychologist to the location to help the situation. A ‘crisis’ meeting was called shortly thereafter.

The club has since released a statement to assure the public and fans of Beka Beka’s safety. They emphasised that he is now in a secure environment and under medical supervision.

OGC Nice has expressed gratitude for the timely intervention and support of the emergency services and has asked for privacy and sensitivity regarding the matter.
