- Jayden-Lee Meek, 11, was found dead near his Fleurhof apartment in May, leading to his mother Tiffany’s arrest and murder charge.
- An online petition with more than 300 signatures calls for Meek to be granted bail, arguing she deserves fair treatment before trial.
A Fleurhof mother accused of murdering her 11-year-old son will return to court on 5 November 2025.
Tiffany Meek, 31, appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court this week, where her case was postponed before being transferred to the High Court.
She faces charges of murder, crimen, attempting to defeat the ends of justice and obstructing the administration of justice.
Her son, Jayden-Lee, a grade six learner, was reported missing on 13 May after not returning home from school. His half-naked body was discovered the next day on the stairway near their apartment.
Police said he sustained a blunt force injury. Meek was arrested on 11 July and has been in custody since her failed bail application.
Magistrate Annelin Afrika denied her bail in July, finding she was dishonest and deceptive in her account of events.
Meanwhile, an online petition has gained over 300 signatures calling for her release on bail. It argues she should be presumed innocent until proven guilty and claims the bail decision went beyond legal requirements.
Meek told the court she believes the police and justice system have failed her.
