Nelisa Mchunu returns to Uzalo as Fikile, ready to stir things up with her ex, Sbu, and her over-the-top personality.
New cast members Jamy Lee Simons and Mondli Nkomo also join, bringing even more twists to South Africa’s most-watched soapie.
Actress Nelisa Mchunu is back on Uzalo after four years, and fans couldn’t be happier. She’s returning to her beloved role as Fikile, the bold and stylish character who kept audiences glued to their screens.
For Mchunu, this return feels like a homecoming.
“Uzalo will always be my first home,” she said. “What I learnt there has stayed with me as I’ve grown and reached new heights in my career.”
Fikile’s comeback is expected to shake things up in KwaMashu, especially for her ex, Sbu, who never got closure after she suddenly left.
“What to expect from my character’s return is the same ‘Beyoncé’ energy. Also, a wild ride between the old Fikile and the new Sbu,” she teased.
Her return is set to air on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, and it promises plenty of drama.
But she’s not the only one making waves. Actress Jamy Lee Simons is joining as Joanne Davids, the mother of Ashley, who catches Nkunzi’s eye and brings even more chaos to the mix.
Mondli Nkomo is also making his debut as Mr Dongwe, MaDongwe’s long-lost husband and Lilly’s father. He returns to KwaMashu after more than ten years, ready to face his past.
King Dave Mukwevho, head of productions at Stained Glass TV, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Fikile’s character back into our world. She’s always been a fan favourite whose presence adds excitement and depth.”
SABC1’s Head of Channel, Ofentse Thinane, officially welcomed Mchunu, Simons and Nkomo, saying their arrival will bring even more gripping twists to Mzansi’s most-watched soapie.
