Snowwy Salman has turned into a prisoner in her own home after surviving three alleged attempts on her life.
The latest attempt to attack the 41-year-old woman from Kwa-Thema in Ekurhuleni took place on Saturday, she said.
She said she escaped the grasp of her attacker by sheer luck.
It is alleged that the intruder managed to gain access to her living room while she was seated there with her visitors.
Salman told Scrolla.Africa that she felt the cold steel of a firearm on her neck and thought her days of playing hide-and-seek with her alleged hitman were over.
“The visitors managed to overpower him, and he confessed that he was paid R5,000 to kill me for refusing to move out of his client’s house.”
Salman added that in 2016 she was threatened by two armed men who demanded that she and her sister move out of their father’s house, otherwise they would have to carry out their client’s orders.
On New Year’s Eve last year, an armed man gained access to the house.
“He shot at me but missed, and I managed to run to my neighbour’s house for safety,” Salman said.
She told Scrolla.Africa that after their father’s death in 2015, his girlfriend demanded that she and her sister Liziwe Salman move out of the house. The girlfriend claimed to have a will in which she was named a beneficiary.
Salman told Scrolla.Africa that their father built them the house in 2000 after he divorced their mother. He had brought them from Cape Town to Kwa-Thema.
“This is the only home we know, and even if we wanted to leave, we have nowhere else to go,” she said.
In April, the siblings took documents to the Special Investigating Unit to investigate the matter. It was allegedly found that the signatures on the will were forged, and the sisters were advised to open a case of fraud.
“They said that [my father’s girlfriend] had also forged the letter of authority, as I applied for it in 2015 and the documents show that [she] only received [hers] in 2021.”
Salman added that she is now forced to carry a whistle with her always in case there is another attempt on her life.
Salman’s late father’s girlfriend refused to comment. “The matter is still in court,” she said.
Kwa-Thema Police spokesperson sergeant Nkululeko Magudulelo confirmed that the police are investigating a case of fraud and attempted murder, and said that no one had been arrested.
