Eze steals the show on derby day

By Razeen Gutta

Eberechi Eze was untouchable in north London as Arsenal dismantled Tottenham Hotspur 4-1, with the midfielder scoring a stunning hat-trick at the Emirates on Sunday.

After a slow start to life with the Gunners, Eze’s clinical finishes – including a standout second goal – sparked a dominant display, firing Arsenal six points clear at the Premier League summit.

“It was special. I prayed for a hat-trick, and God gave it to me,” Eze told reporters post-match, humbly crediting his faith.

The England international’s man-of-the-match performance delivered the first north London derby hat-trick since 1978 – and comes as a massive boost for Arsenal’s title bid.

The win will be even sweeter for Mikel Arteta’s side after title rivals Manchester City and champions Liverpool were defeated on Saturday.

Pep Guardiola’s troops were beaten 2-1 away to Newcastle United while Arne Slot’s men continued their losing streak with a 3-0 battering from Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

Chelsea now occupy second spot after the Blues picked up a 2-0 win at Burnley.

The focus will now shift to the Uefa Champions League, with Chelsea taking on Barcelona and Manchester United facing Beyer Leverkusen on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Arsenal host Bayern Munich while Liverpool take on PSV on Merseyside.

All the action will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
