From the video, it appears that the constable is so drunk that he can’t stand on his own feet.
This is after residents tried to get him to inspect the damage his vehicle caused when it reversed into a fence. Now it turns out the guy wasn’t even authorised to drive the van!
The marked police van belongs to the Wolmaransstad police in the North West.
In the video, the police is seen accused by residents after he reversed and hit a fence on Saturday 28 November in Tswelelang.
After a resident opens the door for him to inspect the damage, he can’t walk on his own and falls down. He is helped to his feet by the same resident.
Provincial police spokesman, Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said they were aware of the incident.
He told Scrolla.Africa: “South African Police Service management is appalled by the unprofessional and unbecoming conduct of a constable stationed at Wolmaransstad in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District.
A case of driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving was opened for investigation and the Constable was detained and released on R500 bail on Monday.
Mokgwabone added that preliminary investigation revealed that the Constable is not authorised to drive a state motor vehicle. As a result, he will also face an additional charge of use of a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
