Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena believes his side can’t afford to be complacent when they host Polokwane city in the Nedbank Cup round of 16.
Despite playing the lower division side, Mokwena reckons that this is one of their most important games and they can’t afford to be complacent.
“No, no we don’t deal with complacency. It is not in our budget and we don’t have possibilities to allow complacency to creep in,“ Mokwena told PSL Media.
“We can’t afford to be complacent. That means the price that we have to pay is also extreme.”
“We have extremely high demands, with high goals and targets that we have set for ourselves,” Mokwena said.
Mokwena said they are playing against the rejuvenated team, especially under the new coach Johnny Ferreira. They have two wins and two draws in their last four matches
“We can’t over-emphasise the magnitude of this game and we know we have to work extremely hard to score because they have good defence.”
“They have kept most of their players they had when they were in the Premiership,” Mokwena added.
The high-flying Downs host Polokwane City in the last 16 round of the Nedbank Cup on Wednesday at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Kick-off is at 15:00.
The winner of this match will face Orlando Pirates in the quarterfinal of the Nedbank Cup on the 15th April due to continental changes. Kick-off is at 18:00.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) on Tuesday confirmed the dates, venues and kick-off times for the Nedbank Cup 2021 quarter finals.
