Borussia Dortmund will wonder how they found themselves in a Uefa Champions League final against Real Madrid after a somewhat disappointing season.
But here they are, going into the final on Saturday night as massive underdogs against a ruthless Real Madrid team.
That could all work in their favour at Wembley Stadium when the final kicks off at 9pm.
Dortmund won their first and only Champions League in 1997, while Real Madrid has won 14.
Real Madrid came first in their domestic league, La Liga, while Dortmund finished fifth in the Bundesliga.
All the odds and statistics are against Dortmund but just like David in the Bible, they will be looking to take down the Goliath-like giant that is Real Madrid.
A new winner will be crowned. Manchester City won the competition last year but was knocked out by Real Madrid this time around.
The Champions League final also brings the domestic football season to an end before the summer break.
The final will be live on DStv channel 203.
➤ There is another major final in South Africa, as Mamelodi Sundowns take on Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final.
Pirates will be looking to defend their title when they take to the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday at 3pm.
On the other hand, Sundowns will be looking to win another trophy this season after claiming the DStv Premiership last weekend.
The Nedbank Cup final will be live on DStv channel 202.
➤ It is a rugby showdown that promises a fast, open and exciting game when the DHL Stormers and Emirates Lions meet in a Cape Town Vodacom United Rugby Championship match. The Lions have a last-gasp outside chance to make it into the last eight of the VURC, while the Stormers can still get a home town semifinal with a convincing victory. It’s all to play for for both teams.
The Sharks have nothing but pride to play for in their VURC match in Durban, while the Bulls need a good win to retain their very important second position on the log. The Sharks are fresh from their sparkling victory against Gloucester in the EPCR Challenge Cup final, and they will be looking to show their Highveld neighbours that they can beat the best in the country.
Emirates Lions vs DHL Stormers on Saturday at 1.45pm
Hollywoodbets Sharks vs Vodacom Bulls on Saturday at 4.10pm
All matches are live on DStv channel 201 and 211
➤ The last HSBC sevens tournament to be held in Madrid can’t influence the Blitzboks’ qualification for the Olympic Games, but it is the last opportunity of the year for them to show that they are as good as the best.
It may be the most important tournament for Blitzboks coach Phillip Snyman and the team. They are facing the toughest possible opposition, but they could win this one. They could, however, also crash and burn. We’ll find out at the weekend.
The Blitzboks play Ireland at 2.37pm on Friday, New Zealand at 12.44pm on Saturday and Fiji at 3.49pm on Saturday. All matches are live on DStv channel 201.
