Amapiano artist and music producer DJ Maphorisa, famous for his dance hits and designer fashion, reportedly owes Sony Music R20-million.
Zimoja revealed that Maphorisa, real name Themba Sekowe, originally took a loan from the label but now struggles to repay it due to the interest.
To manage the debt, he has been pushing other artists to play additional gigs.
Maphorisa refused to comment.
In April, Limpopo singer Shebeshxt criticised DJ Maphorisa during a podcast with L-Tido for their collaboration on the song “Twerka.”
Shebeshxt complained about not getting the agreed split sheets and finding out about the release date online and not through Maphorisa.
