Denise Zimba claims ex-husband cheated on her

South African actress and presenter Denise Zimba has opened up about her separation from her husband, Jakob Schlichtig, who is now demanding the return of their two children to Germany.

According to Sunday World, the couple, who married in April 2022, split due to Jakob’s cheating and not taking care of family responsibilities.

In court papers, Denise explained that her depression was caused by Jakob’s lack of support with their children as well as his cheating.

“What led to my depression, among other things except cheating, was that he was not helping me at all with the children.

“He mentioned many times that I am not a priority to him, and the 2% energy he did was for the children, and that I must accept the ‘phase’ we are in,” Denise revealed in court papers.

She mentioned in the affidavit an incident where Jakob refused to pay for her mother’s flight to help with the children but spent 900 euros (around R17,500) on his cat’s medical expenses.

Denise also accused Jakob of emotional abuse, saying he humiliated her for being financially dependent and claimed no man would want a woman with two children.

She argued against returning the children to Germany, due to her unemployment and lack of support from Jakob and his family. She explained that they own a home in Cape Town, while their rented apartment in Germany is soon to expire.

“I am unemployed and looking after the children. My mother is unemployed and helping me. No one will be looking after the children in Germany. In Germany, we rented an apartment, and the lease is expiring soon. In South Africa, we own a house in Cape Town,” Denise said.

Denise added that Jakob’s family didn’t help her in Germany, visiting only four times and refusing to assist with the kids.

However, she allows her ex-husband to see his children whenever he visits South Africa.
