South African rap star Leslie “Da L.E.S” Mampe is getting better in Washington DC after having a stroke last July.

The All Eyes On Me hitmaker fell ill just one day before his birthday. After spending more than a month in hospital, he first went home to Joburg to recover.

Now he has moved to the US capital to be looked after by his mother, Priscilla Mampe, who has lived there for many years.

“He’s doing very well, and we can’t wait to see him back in action,” said a friend. “He’s thankful to be alive, and so are we,” Zimoja reported.

Before leaving South Africa, Da L.E.S got visits from his friends in the music business. L-Tido, Cassper Nyovest and Pastor Kabelo Mabalane came to see him and pray for his recovery.

The stroke affected how Da L.E.S could move, but his friends are hopeful he will get back to full health soon. His Joburg home, where he first recovered, is now up for sale.

Da L.E.S knows Washington DC well, as he often visited his mum there over the years. He is now focusing on getting better with her help.
