Crime bites: Security guard arrested after shooting three people

Polokwane – A security guard, 45, was arrested after firing shots that wounded three people while working at the corner of Paul Kruger and Devenish Streets. The guard said he thought someone was kidnapping his workmate. Police took his gun and charged him with three counts of attempted murder. He appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday 11 November.

Christiana – Police caught 10 people who were planning to rob petrol stations in Warrenton, Northern Cape. The suspects, aged between 40 and 65, were arrested at 10am on Saturday in Christiana. Police found a gun, bullets and tools they believe would have been used to commit the crimes. They also impounded a VW Polo. The suspects, who are from Ekurhuleni in Gauteng, will be in court soon.

Middleburg – A court has imposed a 15-year imprisonment sentence on Bongani Motha, 24, after being convicted for killing a woman with a knife in Belfast in 2021. He robbed the woman, 43, before stabbing her after she mentioned his name, which meant the victim knew her assailant . Police caught him in Randburg in July 2022.

Parkweg – Police arrested two men on Friday after a video showed them fighting with a young man, 20, in a dark grey Mazda 3. The suspects, aged 24 and 32, were caught after people told police where to find them. Police caught one suspect in Bloemanda trying to run away with clothes in a bag. They found the second suspect at Hostel 1 in Bloemfontein. They are expected  to appear in court soon.

Mangaung – Police need help finding Khonzinkosi Gibson Magibela, 36. He was last seen at his home in Rocklands on 19 October wearing blue jeans, a blue striped t-shirt and black shoes. If you know where he is, call Warrant Officer Jacob van Zyl on 082 527 6348 or Crime Stop on 086 001 0111.
