Consistency is keeping K.O at the top

Rapper K.O’s new music video for “Emoyeni” was never going to disappoint.

K.O, the founder of Skhanda World record label, has been combining hip hop and old school Kwaito to produce high-quality hits every year for over 10 years. It is this consistency which is keeping him at the top.

“Emoyeni”, released on 24 March, is a prayer to “God” asking him not to take him now, as he is still young, and there is still money to spend.

The music video reflects this lavish message, showing K.O having a good time in expensive limousines.

After releasing a few notable hits with the trio Teargas, K.O blew up and went on a solo journey. He then formed Cashtime Life, another record label that produced hit songs like “Cara Cara” featuring Kid X and “Ugogo” by Ma E. The stable also boasted other notable rappers like Moozlie, Smashis (now known as Zinga) and Maggz.

After Cashtime Life, K.O embarked on another stint in his solo musical career until 2020, when he decided to form another team of artists under a new stable called “Skhanda World”.

The label released Welcome to the Planet, the album that introduced Mzansi to Just Bheki, Roiii, Loki and DJ Mr X.

“Emoyeni” embodies the same energy as Welcome to the Planet, with a catchy hook and the neo version of K.O’s unforgiving raps.

Meanwhile the single is sitting at number 23 on YouTube’s trending music charts, with over 75,000 views since its premiere six days ago.
