  • Dithejane becomes the second South African signed by the club in a month after Mbekezeli Mbokazi.

American club Chicago Fire have signed another young South African footballer.

The Major League Soccer side has snapped up 21-year-old attacking midfielder Puso Dithejane from TS Galaxy.

Dithejane has signed a deal that runs until the end of the 2029/ 2030 season. The club also has the option to extend the contract for one more year.

He will join Chicago Fire under their U/22 initiative and will take up an international player spot.

Chicago Fire head coach and football director Gregg Berhalter said the club is happy to bring the young midfielder on board.

“We are adding one of South Africa’s best young attacking players,” Berhalter said.

He said Dithejane’s energy will help the team this season and allow him to grow with the club over time.

Dithejane is the second South African player to join Chicago Fire in recent weeks.

Last month, the club signed defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi from Orlando Pirates.
