ChatGPT has kept its crown as the world’s most popular AI chatbot, according to the AI Big Bang Study 2025.
The study examined more than 10,000 AI tools and tracked how people use them — from website visits and app reviews to media mentions and time spent chatting.
Led by Sujan Sarkar of onelittleweb.com, the research covered data from August 2024 to July 2025.
ChatGPT scored an unmatched 81 points overall, powered by 46.6 billion visits, 26.2 million reviews and 2.4 million media citations. Users spend an average of 15 minutes per session, showing its global popularity and staying power.
In second place is Grok, the fast-rising newcomer built on social media buzz and loyal fans. It recorded nearly 687 million visits, 1.4 million reviews and a 15:43 average session time.
Google’s Gemini came third with 1.7 billion visits, followed by Anthropic’s Claude in fourth. Claude users spend more than 16 minutes per chat — the longest average engagement in the study.
DeepSeek completed the top five with 2.7 billion visits but fewer reviews, showing strong reach but weaker retention. Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Poe, Mistral and Meta AI rounded out the top ten.
