What is more natural for a bunch of rugby players than to sing in the changeroom after a victory? All the teams do it.
The Welsh might sing Land of Our Fathers or Welshman Tom Jones’s Delilah. In England, you might hear Swing Low and in South Africa, there is a good chance you may hear Ama Bokke Bokke or Shosholoza.
In just about any country you might hear Sweet Caroline or “Alice, Alice, who the f**k is Alice?”.
But when it comes to song, the Italians do it in style.
Led by prop Davide Ascari, the entire Italian U-20 rugby team celebrated their win over France by bursting into a spontaneous rendition of Puccini’s Nessun Dorma.
The aria was brought into pop culture with Luciano Pavarotti’s famous version of the song at the 1990 Soccer World Cup.
Of course, the Italians had very good reason to celebrate. They had just won a famous victory at the Under-20 Six Nations, beating France by 23-20.
