- Cassper Nyovest and Mthandeni Manqele’s fight started over Tyla losing at the SAMAs despite winning a Grammy for her song “Water”.
- The argument got worse when Mthandeni mocked Cassper’s hip-hop style.
Rapper Cassper Nyovest has challenged maskandi artist Mthandeni Manqele to get into the boxing ring after they traded insults over the South African Music Awards (Samas).
The beef started when Cassper, who recently became a Christian, criticised the Samas because Tyla’s hit song “Water” didn’t win Record of the Year despite her Grammy success.
“No way, Tyla won a Grammy but not the Sama for Record of the Year. Y’all are playing games,” Cassper wrote on X.
Mthandeni hit back at Cassper, mocking him as “one of those hip hop boys in baggy pants” and saying, “I’ll beat him up!”
Cassper then tried to make peace but kept the boxing challenge open.
“I meant no disrespect. I’m not the tough-guy type, but I do love boxing. So if you want to go there, we can,” he said.
Mthandeni, whose song “Paris” was huge on Ukhozi FM last year, was celebrating his own Sama win with his team at the time.
This isn’t Cassper’s first music beef. In July, singer Toya Delazy said she regretted working with him on their song “My City,” calling him ungrateful and “vile.”
