Cape Town City have been the most active side in the PSL during the transfer market, signing nine players so far.

Clubs are refreshing their squads ahead of the 2024-25 season, and the transfer business is slowly speeding up.

After parting ways with Jo Paciencia, Khanya Leshabela, Relebogile Mokhuoane, Cameroon defender Brice Ambina and goalkeeper Bongani Mpandle, the Citizens have moved to beef up their squad.

They have signed veteran midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo, formerly with Sekhukune United, Fortune Makaringe from Orlando Pirates, goalkeeper Ayanda Sithole, and former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Haashim Domingo, Lefa Aphane, Kayden Francis, defender Sibusiso Ziba, Angolan Carlos ‘Carlinhos’ do Carmo, and Namibian defensive midfielder Prins Tjiueza are also joining City.

Citizens coach Eric Tinkler has signed some players based on experience – Mokotjo is 33, and Makaringe is 31.

“[A] massive signing for the club is obvious after losing Thato Mokeke,” Tinkler told City’s media department.

“To bring a player of Mokotjo’s quality and standard is a massive plus for us this coming season. We are excited to have him. He brings a lot of experience and very good leadership qualities. I think it is a fantastic signing for the club.”

While City has been aggressive in the market, traditional giants Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns have yet to officially announce their new acquisitions.

The three clubs have, however, confirmed departures and replacements are expected to arrive anytime.

Former Pirates left-back Bongani Sam has sealed a deal with Chiefs, although the club is yet to make it official.

The Buccaneers have also signed Angolan forward Gilberto and former NC Professionals goalkeeper Ethan Khel.
