SuperSport and SABC have secured a major deal to broadcast African football matches.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that SuperSport will broadcast games on pay TV in English, while SABC will air them for free in all languages from 2024 to 2025.
The deal covers all of sub-Saharan Africa and includes major tournaments such as the CAF Champions League, the CAF Confederation Cup, the CAF Women’s Champions League, and the CAF Super Cup.
Viewership is booming. CAF reports that Champions League TV audiences grew by 25% in North Africa and 40% in East and Southern Africa.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed his excitement about the growing popularity of African football.
“Many major TV companies were eager to broadcast our games,” he said. “We’re delighted to partner with SuperSport, SABC, and Azam Media.”
