➤ The Bulls look set to easily progress to the quarter-finals of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship (VURC) when they face Benetton Rugby from Italy at Loftus Versveld on Saturday.

The Bulls came very close to topping the log of 16 teams and will have two home matches should they progress to the finals. However, chances are good that they will face Munster in an away match for final honours and the trophy. If Munster drops out, however, the Bulls will have a home final.

Because the Stormers ended fifth in the VURC log, they have a much tougher journey to get to the finals – as indicated by their brutal match this weekend. They face the Glasgow Warriors in Glasgow in the middle of a windy, cold night on a damp field.

The Warriors have already said they’ll be looking to put pressure on Manie Libbok, a player they consider to be “one of the best flyhalves in the world”.

The Stormers, under the guidance of coach John Dobson, seem to thrive when their backs are against the wall. Let’s hope they show that fighting spirit on Saturday evening.

Vodacom Bulls vs Benetton on Saturday at 3.30pm at Loftus Versveld.

Glasgow Warriors vs DHL Stormers on Saturday at 8.55pm at Scotstoun, Glasgow.

All matches are live on DStv channels 201 and 211.

➤ All eyes will be on New York as the Big Apple braces itself to host the fiercest rivalry in world cricket this weekend.

India and Pakistan will battle in a new land as the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup group stages intensify after the men in green suffered a shock upset to co-hosts USA on Thursday.

The battle will kick off on Sunday afternoon. The Proteas take on the Netherlands, and England face Australia on Saturday.

Proteas vs the Netherlands on Saturday at 4.30pm.

Australia vs England on Saturday at 7pm.

India vs Pakistan on Sunday at 4.30pm.

All the action will be live on DStv channel 212.
