Safa have delivered on new Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos’ demands.
On Wednesday he confirmed to the media that he has his first assistant coach in Cedomir Janevski.
“Janevski is a close friend of mine who is in Cyprus at the moment and will join me here after the season has ended,” said Broos.
“I will have a local assistant coach, but I can’t tell you who that is for now.”
Even though the 2020/21 season is drawing to its close, Broos should have time to watch what South African Football is all about in the remaining matches.
“For now the plan is to have players for the next games. But for that to happen I will need my South African assistant because he knows the players better than I do,” he said.
With CAF postponing the start of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers from June to September, Broos and his assistant will have more than enough time to scout their first 23 players.
“I like fancy football, that’s my philosophy. We will not be playing in front of 60,000 spectators and just waiting for the ball. That’s not my style,” he said.
“What’s important for me is the team, not a couple of individuals. I achieved that with Cameroon. We didn’t have the best team but we won the Afcon.”
Broos’ first game will be against neighbours Zimbabwe in the World Cup qualifiers. After that he has Ghana and Ethiopia as the other teams in Group G.
