Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has tried to hide Covid-19 infection and death numbers from the public.
He even had them removed from the health ministry’s website last weekend.
But now he’s in a corner. On Tuesday the supreme court ordered the government to release the figures and put them back on the website.
When the Brazilian president was told in April that more than 5,000 Brazilians had died of Covid-19, Bolsonaro replied “So what? What do you want me to do about it?”
Brazil now has over 700,000 cases, more than any country but the US, and 37,000 deaths.
