Black Coffee raises R500,000 to help flood victims

  • Big companies and ordinary people helped Black Coffee collect R500,000 for food, clothes and shelter.

Famous DJ and Grammy Award winner Black Coffee has stepped in to help families devastated by the deadly floods in Mthatha, Eastern Cape.

The disaster claimed 90 lives and left many more people homeless. In response, Black Coffee and his charity, the Black Coffee Foundation, launched a donation drive to raise money for those affected.

South Africans and major companies quickly showed their support. Together, they raised R500,000 to provide food, clothes and other basic needs.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your kindness helped us raise R500,000 for families affected by the floods in Mthatha. We couldn’t have done it without you,” the foundation said.

Big-name sponsors included Nando’s, Hollywoodbets, Unilever and Sompire. Everyday South Africans also gave what they could.

The funds will bring relief as clean-up and rescue work continues in the Eastern Cape. Many homes, roads and buildings were destroyed in the floods.
