Minister of Police Bheki Cele has threatened to expose the “dirty secrets” of former president Jacob Zuma if he dares to publicly humiliate the ANC.
Cele was addressing the eThekwini zonal structures of the ANC on Thursday in Durban ahead of the party’s unveiling of its election manifesto, which is planned to be held at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 24 February.
He said he knows all about Zuma’s dirty secrets in exile since they were very close during that period.
“If he dares to spill the beans about the secrets of any ANC leader, he must bring it on because I am going to expose his shenanigans that took place in exile,” said Cele.
“Fortunately, I am the only one who knows those secrets because he was my commander during that time and I was his close comrade.”
Cele said the ANC can’t be threatened by Zuma, whom he described as an ungrateful sell-out.
“Harry Gwala (a former leader of the ANC and South African Communist Party in KwaZulu-Natal) warned us against Zuma and now I see why,” said Cele.
Zuma has warned ANC leaders that if they dare to attack him he will expose them publicly for “what they are”.
Cele said that Zuma is fooling himself that the ANC will lose power because he has decided to campaign against the party.
He said that when Zuma was ousted by then-president Thabo Mbeki in 2006 he wanted to fight for him, but struggle stalwart Dumisani Makhaye warned him to stay away from Zuma.
“Makhaye told me that I must never get involved in Zuma’s battles because he is a criminal. Even before that, Harry Gwala hated Zuma and described him as a sell-out,” Cele said.
“He is ungrateful. He enjoys the presidential annual salary of R3-million but he is still fighting against those who are leading,” said Cele.
“He expelled Thabo Mbeki in 2008 but now he doesn’t want to taste his own medicine.”
He said that Zuma must just leave the ANC for good because he is “a bad ancestor”.
