Arsenal lost to Liverpool 0-2 in the FA Cup because they missed many chances to score goals — it is as simple as that.
The question is why couldn’t they make the goals happen?
A famous former Arsenal player, Ian Wright, said on social media that Arsenal needed someone who could score easily and often.
They needed a “killer” he said and he is absolutely spot on. Arsenal need someone who lives and breathes goals.
Players like Harry Kane and Erling Haaland are two that come to mind. Nothing else matters to them. They only want to score goals.
Liverpool, on the other hand, took their chances well. They scored two goals against Arsenal. One was an own goal by Jakub Kiwior, and the other was scored by Luis Diaz.
Arsenal has been struggling in their recent games. They’ve only won one game out of their last seven. Even though they play well and create chances, they are having a hard time finding the back of the net.
Arsenal’s coach, Mikel Arteta, knows they need to find someone who can score goals for the team. Some of their main goal-scorers, like Gabriel Jesus, are injured, and others aren’t scoring enough.
How do Arsenal fix this problem? There may be an easy answer in Ivan Toney, Brentford’s striker who has been suspended for months following a betting scandal.
However, Brentford knows high-quality strikers are hard to come by, increasing Toney’s price tag.
If Arsenal want their man, a possible solution to their problem, they are going to have to spend big.
