Andile Mpisane dances back into music after Royal AM collapse

  • Royal AM lost its place in the PSL and its monthly R2.5-million payout.
  • Mpisane is posting TikTok videos and doesn’t seem worried about the collapse of the club.

Andile Mpisane has returned to making music and TikTok videos after stepping away from football.

He had left the music scene in 2021 to help run Royal AM, his mother Shaun MaMkhize’s football club, as both a player and chairman. But now he’s back in the spotlight with dance videos.

Royal AM was kicked out of the PSL on 10 April after the club failed to pay a R40-million debt to Sars. A takeover deal with Global Investments also fell through, leaving the club with no money to survive.

A source close to the family said, “All we know is that Andile is going back to the entertainment industry as a musician. Her mother has talked about this to us.”

Before focusing on football, Andile released several songs like uMcimbi in 2020, It’s Too Much in 2021, Makhwapheni in 2022, and Uyangqhaska in 2019.

Now, he’s posting videos on TikTok showing off his dance moves and seems not too worried by the football drama.

Players and staff at Royal AM have been hit hard by the club’s collapse. The South African Football Players’ Union says it will make sure players are paid and allowed to join other teams.

MaMkhize didn’t fight the PSL’s decision to remove her club. She had asked to attend the meeting and was expected to apologise — but insiders say she accepted the decision.

She has already been spotted in Eswatini wearing Moneni Pirates colours at the Ingwenyama Cup final. The club is not for sale, but sources say she could be looking to start something new across the border.

Neither Andile nor MaMkhize could be reached for comment.
