On the new remix of his song “Mystery Lady”, American musician Masego has delved into Amapiano, featuring two of the genre’s giants.
“Respect to the pioneers Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa,” wrote the 28-year-old who hails from Kingston, Jamaica, as he shared a snippet of the song on his Twitter account on Wednesday.
Shortly afterwards, he released the track under the title “Mystery Lady (Scorpion Kings Remix)”, in its new form as a combination of Afro-tech House with an Amapiano signature.
“Mystery Lady” must be stuck in Masego’s mind, as this is not the first remix of it that he’s released. The first remix, titled “Mystery Lady (Sego’s Remix)”, was a solo project, and featured him singing and rapping to a reggae-influenced rhythm. It was released four months ago.
The singer and saxophonist went viral in 2017 after releasing a video of him and French multi-instrumentalist FKJ performing the hit song, “Tadow”.
It moved from a smooth jazzy flow to RnB before closing with a verse from Masego in a single take. “Tadow” has collected more than 340 million views on YouTube.
