The New Zealand rugby team paid tribute to Argentina’s soccer legend Diego Maradona on Saturday by performing the haka in front of an All Blacks shirt with “Maradona 10” written on the back.
Maradona died this week at the age of 60.
The gesture was made ahead of the All Blacks’ match against the Pumas, the Argentine rugby team.
With their homeland still in a period of national mourning, the Pumas became the first Argentine team to play since the death of the legend on Wednesday.
New Zealand then went on to crush the Pumas 38-0, a reversal from the match two weeks ago when they were beaten by the Argentinians.
New Zealand is now virtually assured of winning the Tri-Nations series against Australia and Argentina. South Africa is sitting out the contest this year because of Covid-19.
