- Agent Mike Makaab says he has not spoken to Kaizer Chiefs about giving the head coach job to Manqoba Mngqithi.
- Kaizer Chiefs supporters turned on the current coaches after getting inconsistent match results since Nasreddine Nabi left the football club.
Kaizer Chiefs fans want a new coach. The football club is looking for a leader ahead of the 2026 Betway Premiership season.
Reports have linked several big names to the Kaizer Chiefs job. These include Pitso Mosimane, Benni McCarthy, Fernando da Cruz, Sead Ramovic and Manqoba Mngqithi.
But Mngqithi is not begging for the job. His agent, Mike Makaab, spoke to FARPost about the rumours.
Makaab says he will not market his client to Kaizer Chiefs. He says Mngqithi has a strong track record and the club must make the first move.
“There’s been rumours in the media, but I’ve had no formal discussions with Kaizer Chiefs,” Makaab said.
Makaab says Mngqithi is highly experienced and successful.
“I have a very simple philosophy. If we were talking about an unknown coach, then I’d have to market him,” Makaab said.
He said that if there is genuine interest, the football club must make that approach.
The agent says Mngqithi wants a club with a clear project.
“What drives Manqoba is a project, the opportunity to take a project and embody the version of the club and achieve the club’s objectives,” Makaab said.
Mngqithi currently works for Golden Arrows. Makaab says they respect his current contract.
“We remain open to interested clubs, but we have to respect the fact that he has a contract with Golden Arrows,” he said.
