Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says AfriForum is wrong about police hiding the number of white farmers being murdered in South Africa.
The police checked AfriForum’s list of cases and found only one white farmer was killed between October and December 2024, matching their official records.
“The SAPS Crime Registrar has begun verifying the cases in AfriForum’s submission. So far, we’ve found only one murder of a farm owner, which matches our official crime statistics,” the police ministry said on Wednesday.
During this period, 6,593 South Africans were murdered. Of the 12 murders that happened on farms, five were farm dwellers, four were workers, one was a security guard, and one wasn’t specified.
“While we’re still checking all the cases, we haven’t found any more farm owner murders than what SAPS first reported,” said the ministry.
Meanwhile, the Hawks confirmed they are investigating various groups for high treason after AfriForum and Solidarity Union met with members of President Donald Trump’s government in America.
AfriForum leader Kallie Kriel said they went to tell Trump’s administration about South African policies they believe target Afrikaners. These include Affirmative Action, Black Economic Empowerment, the Basic Education Laws Amendment Act and the Expropriation Act.
