Gauteng ANC secretary, Thembinkosi “TK” Nciza, spoke at the Amapiano Africa Summit in Newtown, Johannesburg.
The event started on Thursday and included TK, who has over 20 years of industry experience with his label, TS Records.
TK spoke about the genre’s economic impact.
“Amapiano is an economic force that should be supported. It has employed many young people, from influencers to DJs and musicians. It has a huge impact on society,” he said.
“Amapiano is our pride and this generation has done it on their own. We should do more, support them more, support them to tour Europe, Asia and other continents.”
TK praised the younger generation’s creativity in making music and called for more support for amapiano, in the same way that international music genres are backed.
Although his current role requires a lot of focus, TK remains connected to the music industry.
“I’ll always interact with the music sector because that’s where I come from, and I’m proud of that because it has prepared me for my current journey,” he said.
