South Africa’s Kgothatso Montjane and Japan’s Yui Kamiji won the wheelchair women’s doubles title at Wimbledon, defeating the Dutch team of Diede de Groot and Jiske Griffioen in straight sets.

Montjane and Kamiji secured their victory with a 6-4, 6-4 performance over the weekend.

They won three out of eight breakpoints and took control of the match after an initial struggle, winning the first set 6-4 and rallying in the second set from 2-1 down to a 4-2 lead, ultimately winning without dropping a set.

This is 38-year-old Montjane’s third Grand Slam doubles championship victory, adding to her runner-up finish in the Wimbledon singles final in 2021.

The duo also won last year’s US Open and this year’s French Open.

Montjane returned home on Monday morning.
