Arthur Zwane has been fired as the secretary-general of the Umkhonto Wesizwe party.

He is accused of failing to file the party’s court papers against the IEC over what they alleged was vote rigging during the 29 May elections.

His failure to do so led the party to withdraw its case against the IEC at the Electoral Court.

Scrolla.Africa sources revealed that Zwane was fired on 27 June before the MK party’s conference in Bela Bela, Limpopo.

“Duduzile Zuma [the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma] was angry and furious,” the source said. “She even wanted to beat Zwane for failing to file the court papers.

“Zwane is also accused of being friendly with ANC leaders. He is seen in every ANC WhatsApp group.”

It is also alleged that Zwane defied instructions from MK leader Jacob Zuma to support Phumlani Mfeka of the Injeje yabeNguni Civic Organisation as the KZN premier candidate.

Instead, Zwane allegedly told MK party members in the KZN legislature to propose the deputy traditional prime minister to the Zulu king, Inkosi Phathisizwe Chiliza.

Zwane revealed that he resigned as MK’s secretary-general because of his business commitments but that he remained a party member.

Scrolla.Africa’s attempts to contact Zwane by phone and text messages were unsuccessful.

MK party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndlela also had not answered our calls by the time of publication.
