Kolkata Knight Riders raced to a six-wicket win, chasing down 154 with ease against the Delhi Capitals on Monday.
Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to bat first. Shreyas Iyer said he would have bowled anyway, and the hosts capitalised on the fielding conditions up front.
Varun Chakravarthy was the star with the ball, picking up 3/16 in his four overs to help restrict Delhi to a well below-par score of 153/9.
In response, Phil Salt got nearly half the job done himself at the top of the order – smashing 68 off just 33 balls.
The Knight Riders got to 79/0 in the powerplay, making the middle-order job for Shreyas and Venkatesh Iyer easy.
The Iyers were unbeaten with 33 and 26, respectively, bringing their side home with over 20 balls to spare.
KKR remain comfortable in second place, just four points off Rajasthan Royals at the summit of the standings.
The Capitals now face three must-win games, with the Royals, the Royal Challengers and the Super Giants awaiting them.
On Tuesday, Mumbai travel to Lucknow before the Chennai Super Kings take on the Punjab Kings in Wednesday’s action.
