Chelsea put on a show in front of their owners at Stamford Bridge as Cole Palmer and Mykhaylo Mudryk helped the Blues to a 3-2 win over Newcastle United.

Monday night football was a treat to behold as the Blues and the Geordies instantly made you forget the fact that they were sat in 10th and 11th spots on the Premier League table.

With Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali overlooking their struggling giants, Mauricio Pochettino’s side showed no early signs of the underwhelming season they have had up until this point.

Instead, the hosts went ahead after just six minutes in London, with Nicolas Jackson finishing off his 12th goal of the season.

From one striker to another, the game would be level on the brink of half time as Aleksander Isak equalised for the visitors.

After the break, Palmer would add a goal to his early assist, capping off an impressive display and putting his side back in front.

The best finish of the night was yet to come, though.

The introduction of £90 million (± R1.8 billion) man Mudryk would finally reap rewards as the Ukraine international danced through the Magpies defence to produce a stunning solo goal.

A 90th minute Jacob Murphy finish would be just a consolation as Newcastle missed an opportunity to go up into seventh place on the standings.

For Chelsea, the top half of the table nears closer, with consistency the key for the Blues if they are to achieve a strong end to the season.
