An 80-year-old man from India, Darshan Singh Brar, who was declared dead, came back to life after his ambulance hit a pothole.
Brar, who had been unwell for days, was taken to a hospital and diagnosed with a severe chest infection, which worsened his heart condition.
After four days on a ventilator, doctors declared him dead. However, on the way to Nising in Haryana, the ambulance hit a deep pothole near Dhand village, and Brar unexpectedly showed signs of life.
Brar’s family, who were with him in the ambulance, saw his hand moving and found that he had a pulse. They immediately directed the driver to the nearest hospital.
At the hospital, doctors found Brar breathing and with a pulse and blood pressure. They couldn’t confirm his previous death declaration and suggested that the other hospital might have had technical issues.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a pothole has offered a hand with medical help. A male patient in America with chest pains declared that he felt better after the ambulance he was in hit a pothole.
South Africans know potholes all too well and spend a lot of time complaining about them (as they should) but they might not be so bad after all. However, there are no reported cases of potholes in South Africa saving anybody’s life.
