A carpenter who works almost naked has been sentenced to a year behind bars for walking into a police station wearing a see-through thong and pants, exposing his manhood.
This was just hours after being released from prison for a similar offence.
Robert Jenner, nicknamed “The Naked Carpenter”, was jailed for two years in March 2019 for wearing jeans with a hole cut in his crotch area.
In December 2021, he was sentenced to 10 months in jail for breaching his seven-year criminal behaviour order because of his choice of clothes.
The court in Maidstone, England heard that the first police officer who met the 48-year-old naturist could see his genitals and asked a colleague to confirm what she was seeing as she was not wearing her glasses.
Asked why he had not simply put on “the kind of underwear bought in Marks and Spencer”, a well known retail outlet in the UK, Jenner replied, “I put on the first thing that came to hand”, the Daily Mail reported.
A jury at Maidstone Crown Court in Kent, took 15 minutes to convict the naturist.
Passing sentence on Monday, Judge Charles Macdonald QC said the jury “saw through his pack of lies”.
“This is a repeat offence showing complete contempt for the court and the law.”
Jenner first made headlines in 2016 when he carried out DIY and gardening jobs in the nude.
This led to complaints from his neighbours but he was cleared of 11 charges of indecent exposure the next year.
His lawyer Niall Doherty told the court that there was nothing sinister or sexual about his client’s behaviour.
“He believes in naturism. In his mind his behaviour is acceptable and in accordance with his human rights,” the lawyer said.
