IFP spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa may have summed up the entire situation when he said the ANCYL has resorted to lies, propaganda and hate speech.
“The ANCYL is making up a past that never happened around events they know nothing about,” he said.
This comes after the ANCYL in KZN likened IFP founder Mangosuthu Buthelezi to Nazi dictator Adolf Hilter after the IFP shared the image of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini as part of their campaign to support traditional leaders.
The poster said: “We partner with traditional leaders by recognising just how vital traditional leaders are.”
It went on to say it is important to them so that they can ensure that the needs of the communities are met to ensure that “everyone is treated with dignity and respect.”
The ANCYL’s interpretation of the message is that the IFP wants traditional leaders to kill them, especially those in rural areas.
The ANCYL called Buthelezi the real Hilter who is willing to go all out to kill them, even comparing the IFP to the Gestapo, the secret police of Nazi Germany.
The IFP leadership has described the ANCYL as an organisation that has completely lost its moral direction.
The ANC’s youth wing is also concerned that such attacks will jeopardise the reconciliation talks between the ANC and the IFP at a national level.
IFP spokesperson Mkhuleko Hlengwa called comparing the IFP to the Gestapo and its leader to Hitler an outrageous claim.
“It is outrageous that a rogue private army of citizens and amakhosi has been mobilised to come and kill them. They have truly lost the plot,” he said.
Hlengwa said the ANCYL’s growing fear that the ANC will lose the province to the IFP was affecting their judgement.
Two weeks ago, the ANCYL disrupted the business breakfast of the IFP led Zululand District Municipality which was held in Durban.
The ANCYL in Zululand is expected to lay criminal charges against the Zululand Mayor Thulasizwe Buthelezi on Wednesday regarding the R5 million spent on the breakfast.
