Former President Jacob Zuma’s foundation announced this week that he needed donations to pay for legal services. But he is not the only one with legal financial woes.
Former #FeesMustFall activists Bonginkosi Education Khanyile, Themba Shabalala and Ngizwe Mchunu are currently seeking donation to fund their legal services.
His supporters who have been arrested for the July unrest, are also suffering from the same crisis.
Shabalala, who is famous for his video that allegedly instigated violence, is seeking donations to pay his bail.
Shabalala’s videos were all over social media, where he expressed his views that were seen to be promoting the unrest.
A WhatsApp group was created to raise money for bail.
He will be going to court again on Monday for a formal bail application.
In the group, a participant by the name of Khephuza said: “Guys it is very important for us to assist our comrades who sacrificed their life for our father, Jacob Zuma. This thing of running away when our fellows are in trouble is quite a problem.”
Education Khanyile is no longer supported by the EFF, since he parted ways with the party a week ago.
Even EFF leader Julius Malema made it clear that they don’t have any relations with Khanyile.
The EFF Student Command said it won’t mobilise anyone in support of Khanyile.
Khanyile is still in custody and is expected to apply for bail on Thursday.
Former uKhozi FM DJ Ngizwe Mchunu also asked for donations to pay his legal team and bail.
This week, the man they were to keep him out of jail, Jacob Zuma said through his foundation that he was asking for donations to fund his legal fees.
