- October grants will be paid starting Friday, 2 October, with the Older Persons Grant, followed by the Disability Grant on 5 October and Children’s Grants on 6 October.
- November’s payment dates are being reviewed, since the Older Persons Grant was originally set to be paid on 4 November, the same day as the local government elections.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed the exact dates for October’s social grant payments, but says November’s dates may change, because they currently clash with this year’s local government elections.
Here’s when October’s grants will be paid:
Older Persons Grant: Friday, 2 October 2026
Disability Grant: Monday, 5 October 2026
Children’s grants: Tuesday, 6 October 2026
For November, SASSA had originally planned to start the payment cycle with the Older Persons Grant on 3 November, followed by the Disability Grant on 4 November and Children’s Grants on 5 November, with 6 November set aside as a fourth payment day for beneficiaries whose grants are under review.
That plan is now being reconsidered, since President Cyril Ramaphosa announced in May that local government elections will take place on 4 November, the same day the Disability Grant was originally due to be paid.
“Against this background, the payment cycle for November is being reviewed in view of the upcoming Local Government Elections,” SASSA said.
The agency said it will consult relevant stakeholders before announcing new dates.
If you’re worried this means you won’t get paid, SASSA says there’s no need to panic. “All eligible beneficiaries will receive their grants,” the agency said, adding that it remains committed to making sure grants reach people “at the right time and place.”
Revised November dates will be announced once consultations are complete.
