Former Miss South Africa finalist Chidimma Adetshina is fighting a Home Affairs bid to deport her from South Africa.
The 25-year-old returned to the Cape Town Regional Court on Thursday, 16 July.
She was expected to hand in a statement showing what steps she has taken to make her stay in South Africa legal.
Home Affairs accused Adetshina of living in the country without legal immigration papers and arrested her in June.
She first appeared in court on 9 June and was released on warning.
Court papers claim Adetshina told officials she was a South African citizen when she entered the country from Mozambique through the Lebombo border.
Home Affairs also claims she and her young son were living in South Africa without legal immigration status.
Her citizenship first came under the spotlight during the 2024 Miss South Africa pageant.
Home Affairs later said it found signs that her mother, Anabela Rungo, may have used another person’s identity to get South African identity documents.
Rungo was arrested and later released on R10,000 bail. No public update on her case has been given since then.
Adetshina pulled out of Miss South Africa after the citizenship row. She later represented Nigeria and won Miss Universe Nigeria 2024.
She finished as first runner-up at Miss Universe in Mexico and was also named Miss Universe Africa and Oceania 2024.
