  • Fikile Mbalula wants the Pretoria High Court to order Brown Mogotsi to withdraw murder claims, apologise and stop spreading false allegations.
  • Mbalula says the accusation puts his life at risk and damages his family, insisting the real killers were already jailed in 2015.

ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula has taken controversial police fixer Brown Mogotsi to court after being accused of murder in public interviews.

Mbalula, who used to go by the nickname ‘Mr Fear F*kol’, has asked the Pretoria High Court to stop Mogotsi from repeating the claim that he was involved in the 2015 killing of businessman Wandile Bozwana.

He wants a full retraction, a public apology and R500,000 in damages.

In court papers, Mbalula said the false claims were putting his life in danger. “The family and friends of Mr Wandile Bozwana are made to believe that I am responsible for the murder,” he said, Sunday World reported.

He said the people who killed Bozwana have already been convicted and sentenced to 30 years. “Mr Bozwana was a friend and comrade of mine. I had no reason to do such a thing.”

Mbalula said Mogotsi also spread lies about his wife Nozuko, linking her to a dodgy construction deal in the Free State.

He called the claims “blatant lies” and said if Mogotsi really believed them, he should have gone to the police instead of speaking to the media.

Mbalula also wants the court to declare the statements false and to make Mogotsi pay legal costs.

Mogotsi has until Tuesday to say if he will fight the case and until 18 November to respond in court.
