South African rapper Shebeshxt has opened his heart about the pain he feels every day since losing his nine-year-old daughter in a car crash.
The musician, whose real name is Lehlogonolo Chauke, was driving to a music show on 8 June 2024 when the accident happened, an event that changed his life forever.
He was badly hurt, his partner Kholofelo Moloto was also injured, but the worst part was that their little daughter, Onthatile, died in the crash.
Even though he has gone back to work, Shebeshxt says the pain has broken his heart and he knows he will never be the same again.
Speaking on the E4 Podcast, he explained that he even changed a tattoo on his body to show his pain. It used to say “hustle hard”, but now it says “heartbroken”.
“My heart is broken. I try to be strong, but it’s very hard. When you lose a child, someone you brought into the world, someone you lived for, the pain never goes away. Every day, every moment, I feel it,” he said with tears in his voice.
“Sometimes, you just have to give your pain to God.”
On social media, the grieving father has shared how he struggles to get through each day without his little girl.
“The pain of losing my daughter, neh? I try to be strong, but every night I go to bed crying. I will live with this pain forever,” he wrote in a post that touched thousands of hearts.
In another heartbreaking message, he said, “She may not be with me physically, but I know she is with me spiritually. She is my angel. Onthatile, my daughter, my life.”
