According to the club chairman and owner Kaizer Motaung, Chiefs’ senior team has lost its football identity and culture.
Announcing on Monday that former Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki will be the head of technical and development, he said Ntseki had the required experience.
“We felt that there was a need to bring somebody of his stature to preserve our culture and our philosophy of football,” said Motaung.
“With the present team, you can see that we lost something. This comes after allowing coaches to change things that were not the Kaizer Chiefs way.”
He said Ntseki has to embrace the culture and philosophy of the club.
“There has to be uniformity in the way the junior and senior teams play,” he said.
Motaung said Ntseki would not be appointed as assistant coach of Stuart Baxter who is rumoured to be on his way to Chiefs.
“It is important for us to compete with the best in Africa and the world because I think we have the resources to do that,” said Motaung.
“The history is rich and you need to add more because the bar is very high.”
Ntseki was fired in March after failing to lead the national team to the 2022 CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
Ntseki will work closely with the Amakhosi technical team, including the scouting department and the club’s youth structures.
