Wedding bells will ring out in Nkandla and Eswatini soon as King Mswati III has announced he plans to marry 21-year-old Nomcebo Zuma, the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma, as his 16th wife.

Nomcebo is the daughter of Zuma and his fifth wife, Nonkululeko Mhlongo.

On Saturday, King Mswati’s delegation and senior Zulu royal family members visited Zuma’s homestead in Nkandla and reportedly paid 10 cows as lobola.

Sources say Nomcebo has already moved to Eswatini and quit her final year of university studies in South Africa. She plans to complete her degree in Eswatini.

“There are plans for her to finish her studies there,” a source said.

Ilanga reported that Zuma was unhappy and left when the delegations arrived in Nkandla.

Based on talks from last year, Zuma thought the king wanted his daughter to marry one of his sons.

Zuma and King Mswati have a longstanding relationship, which included South Africa bailing out Eswatini with R2-billion in 2011 during Zuma’s presidency.

Zuma also married Minah Shongwe from Eswatini, the sister of former Judge Jeremiah Shongwe.

Attempts to reach Zuma and his fifth wife, maMhlongo, were unsuccessful.

MaMhlongo, originally from uMsinga, once owned a restaurant in Pietermaritzburg.

She now lives on a farm in Greytown. On Saturday, she was reported to be very happy about her daughter’s marriage to King Mswati III.
