Zulu regiments have released a new song to support King Misuzulu kaZwelithini. The song calls for the government to change the name of the KwaZulu-Natal province to KwaZulu.
The warriors want the government to remove the name Natal because they say it is a reminder of colonial pain. They say the land belongs to the Zulu nation under King Misuzulu.
The song came out after the King asked the government to change the name of the province during a meeting at Isandlwana in Nquthu. Prince Nkinobho Zulu of the regiments spoke to Scrolla.Africa about the new music.
Prince Nkinobho Zulu said the song aims to put pressure on the government. He said the warriors listen when the King speaks and find creative ways to share his message with the public.
Prince Nkinobho Zulu said: “It took us a few minutes to put it together then it came solid with a clear message”.
The regiments often use songs to fight for the King. A few months ago, they wrote a song against Land Reform Minister Mzwanele Nyhontso. They said the minister made decisions about the Ingonyama Trust board without talking to King Misuzulu.
The warriors also wrote a song when former deputy president Kgalema Motlanthe spoke about the Ingonyama Trust. That happened during the time of the late King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu.
Prince Nkinobho Zulu said the warriors told Kgalema Motlanthe to leave the Zulu nation alone. He said the former deputy president was being disrespectful to the King by attacking the trust.
