- Zodwa says her 34-year-old boyfriend Bongani put a ring on her finger in December after nearly two years together.
- She doesn’t want a big wedding and says her ancestors told her to stop drinking and take a break from the spotlight.
Zodwa Wabantu is off the market, again. The outspoken entertainer and dancer has confirmed she’s engaged to her boyfriend Bongani Masina, 34, after a year and seven months of dating.
“He came with flowers and put a ring on it,” Zodwa told TshisaLIVE. “Every 21st of the month is our anniversary.”
Known for her bold personality and younger partners, Zodwa made it clear that age isn’t a factor for her. “Have you ever seen me date a man my age? Never,” she said with a laugh.
This is her fourth public relationship, and she says she’s not afraid to keep trying when it comes to love. “I don’t want to die without sex or a ring on my finger. Even if I get married 11 or 17 times, I’ll do it. I work hard to be happy.”
As for wedding plans, don’t expect a big white dress and hundreds of guests. “I might just wake up and go to Home Affairs or have a party. I don’t like people eating my money. I don’t like people that much,” she said.
Zodwa also opened up about going quiet last December. She says she was mugged in Kempton Park and lost her phone, which made it hard to access her social media.
Some people believed she was hiding after an incident at a tavern in Delmas, but she says that’s false.
“I took it as a sign from my ancestors to take a break,” she said. “I even quit drinking seven months ago because they told me to stop.”
Zodwa had a warning for anyone trying to disrespect her: “I will fight back. People must know that.”
