Israel – A strike on a makeshift mosque in a displacement camp in west Gaza City killed at least 22 people during noon prayer on Saturday. Dr Amjad Elewa of Al-Ahli Hospital said 20 men died at the scene, and two more died from their injuries on Sunday. The UN Human Rights Office noted the severe injuries, often requiring amputations. The Israel Defense Forces have not commented yet.
Mumbai – Kim and Khloé Kardashian attended the $600-million (R10.8-billion) wedding of billionaire heir Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai. Kim wore a red Manish Malhotra lehenga and $1-million (R18-million) worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewellery, while Khloé also wore a Manish Malhotra outfit with Lorraine Schwartz jewellery. The event included stars like Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra, and John Cena.
North Korea – Hundreds of North Korean defectors celebrated the first North Korean Defectors’ Day in Seoul. The event honoured the 34,000 defectors in South Korea with drumming, traditional songs, and food booths. It emphasised the joy of freedom and the challenges defectors face, like financial struggles and discrimination.
USA – Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was identified as the gunman in an assassination attempt on Donald Trump at a campaign rally. Crooks, described as lonely, had bomb-making materials and over a dozen guns at home. Despite being a registered Republican, he had donated to a progressive political group. Friends and classmates were shocked by his involvement.
